Power Supply: Corsair CMPSU-1000HX 1000-Watt
The power supply is often the black sheep of the component line-up. Although marketing hype inflates the importance of many technology products, it really is worthwhile to spend the money to buy a high quality PSU. It prevents downtime, damaged components, and repair costs which sometimes accompany "bargain" models. Our favorite brands based on reputations for high quality construction, efficiency, and reliability are Thermaltake, Cooler Master, Corsair, and Silverstone. (PC Power and Cooling make excellent products as well, but the same level of quality can be had for less money from the other brands.) Corsair in particular has developed an exceptional reputation for efficiency and reliability at a reasonable price. The 1000HX will offer plenty of headroom even if you decide to add a second video card later, as well as additional hard drives, RAM, or expansion cards.
