Optical Drives: DVD Burner, Blu-ray Player, or Blu-ray Burner
Not much excitement has happened in the DVD-burner category for a while. We offer an excellent drive from Lite-On, who has a great reputation for delivering solid products at a good price. It features dual-layer burning (meaning it can use blank DVD's which have double the normal capacity) and Lightscribe disks, which allow you to burn labels directly onto the surface of the disk. It's not as interesting as it sounds - Lightscribe looks kind of faded, and it takes a while. The good news is, DVD burning itself now happens at 20x speed, so you don't have to wait nearly as long to archive your files.

Blu-ray player/DVD burner combo drives are now quite affordable, and give you the ability to watch Blu-ray movies on your PC. (You will need an HDCP-capable monitor in most cases, like the LG L226WTQ-BF.)

Also available is a Blu-ray burner, which allows you to burn disks which hold up to 25GB of data.

We also offer an inexpensive DVD-ROM drive as an option for a second optical drive. Having a second optical drive is most useful for gamers as a means of leaving a game play disk inserted without tying up your primary drive.
