At last - something new! GTS 250 cards...
The nVidia GTS 250 hit distribution channels yesterday!
Well, I'm sort of happy to have something to talk about after a fairly long stretch with no new options, but the truth is, even though nVidia has a new card on the market, there isn't really much new about it. The GT200 architecture is at the heart of their flagship high-end cards (GTX 260, 280, 285, and 295), so what will really mean something for the mid-range sector is a more affordable version of the GT200 - which isn't now.
What happened now is nVidia took their 1 generation old G90 architecture and repackaged it in a more energy efficient product than the 9800 GTX+ (which is being replaced as of today). The good news is, in addition to using less power than the 9800 GTX+ its memory runs a little faster, and it's $50 cheaper, which was a long time coming (the 9800 GTX+ should have dropped in price long ago.)
